International Relations as an independent specialty exists at TSU since 1991, and today the Department of International Relations is known for its highly competitive BA, MA and PhD programs. 

Along with theoretical knowledge, the educational programs offered by the Department provide in-depth skills for regional research. The BA program in International Relations includes thematic modules focused on the Political Economy of International Relations; European Studies; International Security; Foreign Policy and Regional Research. 

Georgian and foreign students participating in the Eurasian and Caucasian Studies MA program become researchers and practicing specialists in Caucasian political problems. The MA program in Nationalism and Ethnicity is the only one of this profile in the region where political and cultural issues related to nationalism are taught. The MA program in International Policy and Diplomacy is a major training certification opportunity for international relations researchers and diplomats in Georgia.
